Ok so these are a few days (weeks) late...but I've just settled back into school. The first week back was busyyyy to say the least. The inauguration was crazy and I didnt sleep the entire 2 days before so by the end of it I was about to ready to fall asleep just standing up. (I actually did a few times) And I went to go take a break in the bathroom of the lincoln memorial, sat down for a minute, and fell asleep for an hour. so embaressing. Ok well the balls I went to (Youth & Staff) were both amazing. I was a little tired for both, and rushing around but all in all it was a good time. I got to meet Michelle Obama at the White House the day after the inauguration and she, as predicted, is one of the nicest women I've ever met. I didn't get any pictures though we weren't allowed. Hannah started crying so she got a hug from her (LUCKY!). Well that's about it. Here are some pictures from my last few days in DC and ofcourse, INAUGURATION DAY

I am honestly pretty much too exhausted to write much. It's alot of work over here in DC, but it's about to be overrrr. We moved into our new supporter housing, and she is amazing. She's a single mom, and the nicest women ever. She always is trying to make us pancakes, and never lets us leave the house without a snack. Basically, she's amazing. We are way too lucky. Today was the opening ceremonies concert, and it was insane and a nice little preview for our actual gameday. Mom + Dad, and Uncle Johnnie + Aunt Annie, I sent you guys postcards today...get excited. Well, since I can't write much, I'll leave you with a few pics. COUNTDOWN TO GAMEDAY: 2 DAYS!!!!

hey there,

well I've been here for pretty much exactly a week. I have alot of words to sum up my experience, but the best word is probably tired. Really tired. We have been working non-stop pretty much, and this weekend we had the madness of running 2 seperate 4,000 person trainings. Our first one on Saturday was pretty much just a complete clusterfuck, but by sunday we had worked out all the kinks and the next two days ran really smoothly. I have gotten a reasonable amount of sleep, as much as you'd expect for someone working on this committee. The supporter housing and everything is still working out great, they are so nice and basically a second family. We are moving from there on thursday though to a new house. Which apparently is closer to a metro stop so we don't have to take cabs everywhere. That will be a nice change. I got a chance to walk around alot today to sort of map out or location for the big day. It was also a nice sight seeing oppurtunity. Headed to spots like the lincoln, washington, korean war, vietnam war, and WWII memorial. All great and really interesting spots. Besides that it's been alot of office work and dealing with volunteers. And ofcourse getting super excited about the upcoming inauguration...just one week away!! And then attending all the fancy balls. I will be pretty tired at the youth ball since it is the night of the inauguration but i'll do my best to look nice. Well that's pretty much it. Although i did buy 2 for 1 hot dogs yesterday, thinking I would only eat one and just take the other one because it was free, but did indeed end up eating both..and then throwing up later that night. Thats pretty much all the excitement for now..

Hey peeps,

So I have been in DC since Tuesday, and so far it's amazing. I love DC, the city is beautiful. Don't worry I've taken about a million pictures already, I'll post them when I get back to my supporter housing. Which by the way, is hilarious. We are staying with a family friend of hannahs for our first few nights. They have 3 boys, 12, 12, and 7. One of the 12 year olds is Ethan, and he's probably my favorite. He's outgoing and listening to the same music as me-note that he's in 7th grade. The other 12 year old is Ben, and then there's Arye he's cute, but when we had to babysit them the other night he wouldn't do his homework! But besides that they are all really well behaved. Anika, Hannah, and I are shacked up in their basement. They have another guy, Mike, who is living in the basement with us but he has own room (he's already been here for 2 weeks) he's working with Obama too. But he's up on the 4th floor, while my department is on the 3rd. So far it's alot of volunteer management, and getting in contact with our volunteer captains to make sure they are talking to their groups. We have 3 seperate 4,000 person trainings this Sat-Mon. Should be a busy weekend!! But I'm excited, I really love this job. Tomorrow we are moving to a different building because we are going to get all our shit for this weekend in order. Organizing and all that good stuff. So, like I said before....so far I love it!! It's funny to be in a completely new city but still have it feel really familiar. A lot of people I worked with in Iowa, as well as just people I recognize are here. So it kind of feels like home haha. But I do miss you guys, don't worry! I'm still looking around for souvenirs for you, there are plenty of different storres and street vendors to choose from. So get excited!! Anyway, as most of you already know I met Barack today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were sitting at lunch and we get a text from our boss (Derek) that Barack was coming...needless to say we jumped up and sprinted back to the office. They almost didn't let us in though, and we couldn't get onto our own floor. Thankfully we went up to the fourth and promptly got in line. I shook his hand (out of breath from running) and told him it was nice to meet him. And got a picture!! I will post them with the other ones when I get back home tonight. Well I need to go and make some signs for our trainings this weekend...my basic job is to do whatever is needed. Wish me luck! I'll post again soon, tomororw or the next day probably. And i'll post the pics tonight..so check back!
